This Digital World -- Tips for Parents of the Digital Generation
You know your kids are online, but you're not really sure if what they're doing is appropriate, or even worthwhile. The following video is featured on the Edutopia website. Edutopia is the home of The George Lucas Educational Foundation and is dedicated to helping teachers and parents learn how to leverage technology with kids.
Take a few moments to watch the video, then browse some of the other information on the site to help you have a better understanding on how you can support your children and their use of technology.
Penny War for Haiti
The students at Crestomere spent last week engaged in a class-to-class "Penny War" to raise money for aid in Haiti. Every day, students would bring their pennies and drop them in their home room jars. Then they'd take silver or, in some cases, bills around to other classes and 'bomb' their jars. The silver and bills counted against the collected pennies in each classroom, but in the end, the Canadian Red Cross and the victims of the Haitian earthquake were winners as the school raised $1100.75 in just five days.
We are so proud of our community for showing again, just how much they care for those less fortunate. The Crestomere community really knows how to put the CARE in CALL!
